In 2011 I spent a week at the annual Nagaur Cattle Fair in Rajasthan, a sensational event that sees hundreds of cattle, horse, camel and buffalo breeders from across the region converge on this small city on the edge of the Thar Desert to buy, sell and trade their livestock.
I sketched every day and took countless photos of the colourful and exotic events, then back in my Melbourne studio completed this watercolour depicting a family of breeders trading their Marwar stallions.
